Infrastructure upgrades and a new LEED Gold Residential Center are essential projects in the Armed Forces Retirement Home’s long-range plan to modernize and fulfill their mission to provide state-of-the-art care to our nation’s retired service men and women.
Relocating chillers and the IT Center of an operating long-term care and retirement community required critical attention to details in addition to preserving the campus’ historic fabric.
As a result of comprehensive site investigations and design strategy, AE Works added value in several ways:
Relocated two existing chillers instead of buying new, resulting in substantial cost savings
Discovered existing electrical infrastructure did not have capacity to support the Chiller and IT Center Relocation. The team designed a new medium voltage feed to serve new switchgear, building in redundancy.
The AE Works team also provided telecomm design for the new Residential Center bridging documents. Systems included telephone/data, CATV, telecom closets and service entry points.
