Prosthetics Dept. and Rehabilitation Clinic, James Van Zandt VA Medical Center

November 24th, 2014

This new 9,730-SF addition expands and centralizes staff offices and exam space for the Rehabilitation Clinic and the Prosthetic Department.

The project’s goal was focused on improving the experience for Veterans visiting the clinic. This project was also particularly challenging because it was designed concurrently with an addition that was not yet built.

AE Works met the challenge and design schedule in 135 days instead of the original allotted 150 days. This addition was also designed to accommodate a future 2 floor expansion.

Complete with a new entrance so that patients can get to their appointments more easily, the design centralizes staff offices and storage spaces, which were previously scattered throughout the hospital. Also enhancing the work environment for staff, the design incorporates light-filled corridors, lounge and dining amenities.
